Hi, I'm Christi (クリスティ), your partner in helping you or your child feel confident in English. I work with all ages but specialize in working with kids and anyone who is struggling to make progress. If you or your child has already started learning English and wants to keep growing, I'm here to assist!

I've collaborated with Cafetalk-Hapa School many times, so adult students are also welcome! I also have experience teaching the TOEIC exam and helping students understand its complexities. If you need TOEIC practice, please try my lesson!

Many of my students have repeating weekly lessons at the same time each week. These times may show as available on the schedule, but they are reserved. The following times are reserved for other students:

Wednesdays and Thursdays

6:00 - 6:30 am

7:00 - 8:00 am

8:00 - 8:40 am (Thursdays only)

Saturdays

7:00 - 10:00 am

11:30 - 12:10 am

If you are wanting to request regularly scheduled lessons each week as a long-term student, I'm happy to reserve a time for you as well.

Many of my students are those who have moved between Japan and the US. Are you adjusting to life in Japan and want to keep your English strong? Or have you moved to the US and are adapting to a new school?

I'm based in Texas, USA, and I've been a certified teacher for over 5 years, mainly teaching 2nd and 3rd graders. About half of my students at school were foreign English learners and needed extra support. I'm proud to say their test scores showed great improvement due to the teaching approach that I use. Because of my school experience, I can also help parents who are new to the US. I can help you communicate with school staff and understand the education system.

  • Maintain Progress: Language skills can fade without practice. I'll help you build on your English foundation, preventing loss of hard-earned skills. At least 30 minutes of lessons weekly is recommended.

In my lessons, I will be talking in simple English but sometimes I can use Japanese grammar to help explain concepts.

More About Me: I'm from Texas, USA, where cowboys exist, but not exactly like in movies, haha. I studied filmmaking and hold a degree in Radio/TV/Film. My previous work was in photography for schools for 8 years. Working with kids became my calling, and I found joy in designing lessons that are fun and effective.

My hobbies are traveling, design, crafts, cooking, anime/manga, and enjoying nature. During COVID-19, I learned to cook Japanese dishes like ramen, tonkatsu and gyoza.
