Nice to meet you! My name is Ash.
I have been teaching English since I moved to Osaka, Japan in 2009. There I spent my time working for an English conversation (eikaiwa) school in the Shinsaibashi/Namba area. Now I live a train ride away from New York City and am continuing to teach students here in New York. Hopefully you, too!
My Background:
When I was an instructor at the English conversation school, a lot of my lessons focused on Business English, travel English and daily conversation. Since the lessons were one-on-one, I was able to cater my lessons to fit the requests and needs of my students. This is something I think is very important, and something I still use to make sure that your specific needs and goals are met.
I've had a lot of interesting jobs over the years. I've worked on a farm, at a hospital pharmacy, and now I work in customer service for a non-profit organization. If you need practice helping customers in person as well as over the phone, I'm the teacher for you!
My Lessons:
I like to provide a cheery, relaxed atmosphere in my lessons and I believe that having fun is the best way to learn. That doesn't mean I won't give strict correction! In our first lesson together, you can request how much correction you'd like, how fast you'd like me to talk, it's all up to you!
My Hobbies:
I love music and going to concerts! I love J-Pop and I went to see a lot of artists in Japan, and when they have come to New York, too! I dabble at the guitar and ukulele when I get the chance. My favorite TV Show is a Sci-Fi show called Doctor Who (it's about time travel). I also like to play video games and I loved going to game centers in Japan. Recently I've been playing Splatoon. What do you like? What are your hobbies?
