Hello! My name is Yumi, and I am a yoga instructor.
 
Each of us have different bodies, and our bodies changes every day, and even might feel different depending on the time of day. In yoga, we practice facing our body and mind at each moment and adjusting ourselves.
I will take a careful look at each of my student’s condition and teach them with care.
So, even if you are a complete beginner or aren’t too flexible, it’s alright. Please feel at ease taking my lessons. Then, you’ll be able to maintain your body condition on your own!
【Instructing Experience】
Since 2018, I have been teaching group lessons, private lessons, and online lessons from my home studio, major yoga studios in Tokyo, cafes in Tokyo, as well as overseas (Australia).
 
【My Yoga Style】
My style emphasizes correct body movement and alignment. If necessary, we use tools (blocks, belts, blankets, etc.) to make practciing yoga safer and more effective. Of course, you do not need to have any tools, and can substitute with things you have at home.
【How did you get started with yoga?】
I first experienced yoga at a sports club I joined to relieve my lack of exercise. I thought it was fun to move my body in various ways. After that, I wanted to try yoga in a more serious way, so I went to a yoga studio, and was shocked when the teacher said in the first class, “The purpose of yoga is meditation”. After that, I was fascinated by the world of yoga.
 
【Instructor Certifications】
I took an instructor’s course because I wanted to deepen my own yoga practice. First, I took a certification from an American yoga school in Japan.
After that, I wanted to study more, so I did a three-week training in India. Yoga is a worldwide qualification. I began to consider the option of being able to teach not only in Japan but also overseas.

【Self Introduction】
I have been practicing yoga for more than ten years, and teaching yoga for three years now. I was skeptical when I first started, wondering if yoga could really help my body and mind, but as yoga has helped me reduce stress and gynecological problems, I have become completely absorbed in it, and yoga has finally become my vocation. I am now in my mid-forties, and I am physically stronger and less tired than when I was in my twenties. I also feel more mentally stable. I am glad that I started practicing yoga ten years ago.
In 2020, I had the opportunity to stay in Australia for a year, and I was able to teach yoga there as well. This was also my goal, so I was very happy. I practice yoga every day, and I feel the benefits of yoga every day.
