Hi Cafetalk students! 

This is a general notification to inform you that I'm currently closing my Cafetalk services to take on a new full-time job outside of Cafetalk. Lessons will no longer be available as of Sept. 4, 2023.

It's been a pleasure to teach all of you the past few years! Thank you to all my amazing students for your hard work and positive attitude. I wish you all the best of luck in your future language studies! I will really miss all of you!

Hello students! I’m Alli from America! Let’s chat!

Teaching languages is my passion! I’ve been teaching English and French for 9 years. I was a Premium Cafetalk tutor for 6 years from 2013 to 2019, and I joined the community again at the beginning of 2022! During my time teaching on Cafetalk, I have taught over 5000 lessons! In addition to teaching online, I’ve also taught language lessons locally here in France : English lessons for French speakers and French lessons for British expats living in France. 

As for my educational experience, I have completed two Bachelor’s degree programs. The first was an American Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Oklahoma State University. My second degree was a French licence in Modern French Literature from the University of Toulon, France. I hold a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from TEFL Toulouse, as well as a certificate in Foundations and Advanced Methods of Teaching English Online from BridgeTEFL.

Through my years of experience teaching languages, I have taught people of all ages and all levels. I try to adapt to students’ individual needs and help them grow closer to their language goals. My own experiences learning French and other languages have helped me understand what’s most important when learning a language, which has allowed me to develop my own style and method of teaching. 

My teaching style is warm, friendly and enthusiastic, and my lessons are designed to be fun and relaxed. I focus on practical, everyday communication in English and French, while incorporating useful vocabulary, expressions, and grammar practice. I also offer chat lessons for students who simply want to practice their speaking - we discuss the news, culture, family, hobbies and more!

About me

I’m an American living in France. I have lived here since 2010, and I love my life as an expat in a foreign country. I lived in Provence in the south of France for several years, and today I live in the countryside in Brittany, with my partner and my cat Fiona. Since moving to France, I have had many opportunities to travel around Europe and beyond. Do you like travelling, too? Have you traveled to Europe or North America before? 


Hobbies and Interests

In addition to travelling and French culture, I also love music and singing. I like all genres of music, especially jazz. I spent several years working as a jazz singer with a band of professional musicians in the south of France. It was an amazing experience! Nowadays, I study music and jazz at my local music conservatory. I would love to hear all about your favorite music!

I also enjoy handicrafts such as knitting, crochet and sewing. I like to go hiking and running with my partner in the forest and along the beautiful coast here in Brittany. Finally, I love animals, especially cats!
