Hello, my name is Yukari. I can speak both English and Japanese fluently. I'm Japanese, but I've spent most of my life abroad in diverse places including Manila, America and London. I enjoy gardening, reading, and meeting new people. I have a degree in the Dental field and have worked both in the USA and UK. As a former ESL student myself, I can help you improve your English skills. At 5 months old we moved to the Philippines where I attended a Japanese elementary school followed by International school for my middle school education. I returned to Japan when I was 14 and attended Senri International School in Osaka. At age 16, we moved to America. After finishing High school I went on to study in the Dental Field. After receiving my degree and finally receiving my license , I worked in various clinics in America. I moved to England sometime later and worked in the UK including London for 10 years. In 2010, I took the IELTS English Test twice and on both occasions I received a score of 8 out of a maximum of 9 in The Academic IELTS Test. I received 8.5 out of a maximum score of 9 in speaking. Listening and reading. An 8.0 IELTS score is equivalent to TOEFL 110-114, CEFR C1, and a Perfect score in TOEIC, and higher or equivalent to level one in Eiken.

  • We will have fun English conversations.

  • I will adapt the lessons to your level and to achieve your goals.

  • We can talk not just in English, but if needed I can speak and translate into Japanese. If you wish, we can converse solely in English.

  • We will use articles, books, workbooks and videos. Occasionally we might play a game. I also provide a lesson with English songs.

  • You can choose a lesson to correct your pronunciation, copying my pure spoken English. You will learn new vocabulariy and phrases.

  • We can talk about the topics of your choice

  • We will conduct the lesson according to your requirements and we will proceed at whichever pace is best for you. We will work magic together.

  • We can talk about almost any subject you wish including gardening, world events, music, culture, therapy, cooking, TV programs, etc. I have a curious mind so I am willing to talk about subjects that I'm not familiar with, I am happy to learn new things!

  • I will try to accommodate any other requests you may have.

  • Children are welcome too( from elementary ).

  • “Practice makes perfect” - Please do not be afraid of making mistakes. Every mistake you make is a step up on the ladder towards perfection, because you are trying. We all learn by making mistakes. Please ask as many questions as you need to. We will work on it until you fully understand.

 I pride myself on providing a relaxed atmosphere where students can talk freely and ask as many questions as they wish. I am happy to receive any feedback. Please message me on Cafetalk.
