Do you know how to make uncountable nouns countable?

Lady Ayame

Dear Cafetalk Community,
How are you? I'm glad the weather is cooling down some over there and the weather is turning to fall. It's a nice time of year, isn't it? Here in Canada, it is already snowing. I'm afraid we're in for a long winter ahead of us here in the north-western hemisphere. Please enjoy the changing season while you can.
Today, I want to talk to you about turning "uncountable nouns" into "countable" ones. For example, pizza is both "countable" and "uncountable" depending on the situation. However, if you add a "slice of pizza," it becomes "countable." As another example, milk is "uncountable" but "bottles of milk" is "countable." How many "bowls of rice" can you eat? "Rice" which is an "uncountable" noun becomes "countable" in a bowl. Also, toast is a mass noun and is "uncountable" but if you add "one piece of toast," you can make it "countable." Get it?
I'm very excited and happy about teaching English and watching my students improve rapidly. My students are lovely and I'm having a wonderful time meeting each and every one of them. I especially like and treat all of my children students as if they were my own.  In particular, I like to live vicariously through my students on trips to Southeast Asia, Korea, Taiwan, Bali, etc. Please know I am with you in spirit, and after hearing all about your trip I feel as though I went on the vacation myself.
Whenever you want to learn, brush up, maintain, or just speak English, I am always here for you as your English tutor. Please kindly take a look at my profile page for further information about my personal and professional background.
Thank you for continuing to take my lessons. It's always a pleasure to see you. I feel very fortunate to have met so many fantastic, good-hearted, and kind students along the way. I look forward to meeting you if I haven't already. Take care and see you soon!
Warmest regards,
Lady Ayame
