Aomori prefecture (day 6 travel in Tohoku)

Hey everyone !

Day 6 : We woke up at the Kawauchiko road station in the middle of the Shimokita peninsula. We then headed out to Hotokegaura rock formations where we went hiking and saw these amazing formations.

Then on to the most northern point of the Hanto island oma cape. Where we ate some expensive sea food ( though I think it was over priced , but I wrote it off it was my husbands birthday ) .

Then we headed off to mount Osore where heaven and hell meet each other and it’s considered a sacred place to Japanese people . There also runs a special river where you cross between life and death . The heaven portrayed there is the beautiful view of the lake and mountains. (Main photo) Hell is the active volcanic areas you have to walk through to reach heaven . The sulphate smell was very strong by the time we left I had a wicked headache.

We then headed off to Shiriyazaki lighthouse but it was really raining hard so we couldn’t get out of t he car ... all pictures were taken as we drove by .... then we headed off to Kuji town in Iwate where we spent the night and had more seafood at an older fashioned sushi bar , the owner was so friendly and nice ! Thant is something I really noticed about people in Tohoku they are overly friendly and helpful . It’s a completely different atmosphere to Japan.
