Kagoshima city is very famous for the Great Sakurajima, an active volcano on the island of Kyushu. This volcano represents the entire Kagoshima Prefecture. You can experience the spectacular beauty hot springs in this city.
Moreover, the town itself has some huge interesting parks, ancient museums, delicious food and bigger malls. Most people here are very kind and happy compared to other Prefectures in Japan.
One thing that made me surprised in this city, is their ”Satsugū dialect”. Older people in this prefecture still spoke the language except for the Millennial Young Generation. Go travel and make friends with them.
You will surely love this place with such a European City Vibes.
Let’s Start your Travel!
1.Visit Sakurajima
This view is very breathtaking and soothing especially when you’re at the bay. There are a lot of people who are visiting the place. Most of them bring some food and have a small picnic around this area while looking at Sakurajima. Always remember that the volcanic activity is still happening and still erupting less volcanic ash on the surroundings of Kagoshima, so you better check first the volcanic status if you’re planning to hike, climb or trek in the mountain.
2. Takachiho Farm in Kagoshima
Location: Located at the foot of Mount Kirishima, near the prefectural border of Miyazaki and Kagoshima. 5265-103 Yoshinomotocho, Miyakonojo-shi, Miyazaki
Takachiho Farm is a huge farm surrounded by the Kirishima mountains and it is famous when it comes to touching the animals, milking cows and horseback riding. Their farm has produced some fresh dairy products like yoghurt, milk, soft cream and cheese. They also have really fresh meat products, restaurants and souvenir shops. It’s nice to bring your whole family here especially kids.
This place is very crowded especially lunchtime, so I would recommend that you go there earlier before lunch or after.
