「バイキング」はどういう意味でしょうか？

日本語では、食べ放題なブュッフェという意味です。

（ブュッフェは自分で自分の皿を食べ物を置く）

「バイキング」は "Viking" から来ました。

でも、英語での意味は全然違います。

"Viking" は1000年前ぐらいのノルウェーの国民のことです。

どうして食べ放題なブュッフェのことを「バイキング」と言いますか？私は全然知らなかったのでウィキペディアで調べまし：

英語では、「バイキング」は "an all-you-can-eat buffet" と言います。

"all-you-can-eat" ＝食べ放題

（"all-you-can-drink"＝飲み放題）

"buffet" （バッフェと読む）＝ブュッフェ

例：

"This restaurant has an all-you-can-eat buffet."

「このレストランはバイキング形式です」
