Is it a day to stay at home, by any chance?

Tanya Forbes

We can use the phrase, by any chance, to express an idea that we are not really sure if we think something is correct or not.  We think something might be true, but we are politely asking for more information to find out if it is true or not.

·        By any chance, do you have any idea of how we are going to get out?

·        Is there another exit, by any chance?

·        Could we cut a hole in the snow by any chance and crawl through?

·        Are you feeling trapped, by any chance?

·        Will it melt quickly, by any chance?

If you want to improve your English, by any chance, book an improver lesson and let’s have a chat.
