What is the best Christmas dish in my area? Such a question!

주간 토픽: What is the best Christmas dish in your country/area?

Holly Sensei

If I've learned anything from growing up in the US, it's that one family's traditional Christmas dish can vary widely from the next family's. And so, I present to you my family's traditional Christmas. I'm sure it will be different from yours, and even different from other American's. Is my family weird? You be the judge!

1. Shrimp Cocktail

My family's Christmases involve lots of seafood! The party standby "Shrimp Cocktail" always makes an appearance. This is shrimp, served cold, around the rim of a cocktail glass served with cocktail sauce, which is a spicy and sweet sauce made with horseradish. Enjoy!

2. Kipper Snacks

My grandfather's parents were immigrants from Sweden and Norway. While I would never speak for people in these countries, I think it's interesting the way American culture+immigrant culture= new tradition. Or maybe it's just my family that eats fish on Christmas Eve, who knows?
And of course meatballs, how could I forget?

3. Opening presents on Christmas Eve.

We open our presents on Christmas Eve, not Christmas Day. Although, Santa comes at night, and you open his presents on Christmas Day. Does it make sense?

4. Speaking of Christmas, growing up we always went to Christmas tree farms to choose a tree,
a real tree. Now I know better, I don't have a real tree because I don't want to cut down trees for one day a year.

5. Lottery Tickets.

Santa Claus always leaves lottery tickets in people's stockings, even children. Did you know?
Also, everyone in the family gets a stocking filled with presents, even the adults.
Happy Holidays!
