Idiomatic Sentences for English learners and IELTS Students

Andrew

Short idiomatic sentences are often used by native English speakers when communicating. For IELTS students, these types of expressions often count as less common vocabulary, which can help if you are aiming for a high band score.

Take a look at these two sentences:
▶ "Currently I am working in America. I'm going to stay here for two more years."
▶ "Currently I am working in America. I'm here for another two years."

"I'm here for another two years." - is shorter and simpler, it is also less common and sounds more natural. Just remember: longer isn't always better.

Additional tip: if the speaking portion of your Test is not very soon - consider learning about phrasal verbs. Study and learn them in context: observe native speakers using them and try incorporate them into your daily conversations.

Good luck!
