Jill of All Trades

주간 토픽: Your dream-job

Shezel

"What do you want to be when you grow up?" We always hear this question when we were just kids. Now that we're adults we also ask children what they want to be when they grow up, reminding ourselves of the dream we had before.

Although most kids aspire to become a doctor, teacher, engineer or  a policeman, I had never thought of any job that I wanted to do at that very young age. Even when I reached high school and when friends and classmates decided their profession, I had no particular occupation in mind. It didn't mean that I didn't have any, it just that there were too many.

I couldn't say anything specific because there were too many fields that attract my interest. At first I liked to be a radio drama actress because I'm always fascinated by their voice inflection which is full of meaning and emotion. Later on I wanted to become a writer. Eventually at some point I wanted to become a hotelier, a BPO worker, a tour guide,  an ESL instructor, a trainer, an editor, a craft artist and a real estate agent.

There were various careers I wanted to try and I did almost all of them. I'm like Jill of all trades. Eventhough I was criticized by some relatives for always changing jobs and accused me of not having a sense of responsibility, I still continue with my creative pursuits. I keep on telling them that I am a multipotentialite and that I don't have 'one true calling'.

I never regret my decisions and I've been happy with the outcome of my actions. I'm still dreaming now and working on finishing another manuscript. Presently, I'm trying to become an author of paranormal romance. I know I can also make it. Nothing is impossible as long as we believe and we work hard to make it happen.
