③The difference between “wa” and “ga” 「は」と「が」のちがい

Hello! This is the last blog about the difference between “wa” and “ga”.

●犬（いぬ）は　すきですが、猫（ねこ）は　すきじゃないです。

I like dogs, however, I don’t like cats.

なにかを　比べる（くらべる）とき、「は」をつかいます。

When comparing some things, we use “wa” instead of “ga”.

●Ａさん：「Bさん、どの　動物（どうぶつは）が　すきですか。」

　Bさん：「わたしは　いぬが　すきです。」

A: Which animal do you like?

B: I like dogs.

新しい情報（あたらしいじょうほう）には　「が」をつかいます。

We use “ga” for new information.

「いぬが　すき」と　はじめて　はなすので、「が」を　つかいます。

B-san is mentioning the new information that he/she likes dogs, “ga” comes after “いぬ(dogs)”.

＊「わたしは　いぬが　すきです。」の　わたし＝トピック（topic) ですから、「は」をつかいます。

In the sentence “I like dogs.”, “I” is the topic of the sentence,(meaning “As for me”), therefore, “wa” comes after “watashi”.
