Random Question Generator for ESL Students

2023년 1월 15일

My first blog for the year and my very first article here on Tutor's Column is something that I would like to share to everyone.

I have been enjoying talking to people these years since I started teaching English. One of the struggles I encountered while I was learning this profession, is holding up a conversation for 30 minutes. There were really moments when I ran out of questions to ask or I couldn't think of what to say next just to acknowledge what the other person said. Whenever that happens, there will always be this awkward silence or you will hear an imaginary cricket chirping in the background. Then in the end, I'll end up saying: "Uh-huh.", "Yeah.", "That's right.", "I understand.", "I see.", or what have you. Consequently, I looked for many ways on how to keep the conversation going.

Along the way, I began studying many things to improve myself and to upskill, especially creating "something". Afterward, I started to ask myself, "why not apply what I learned?". 'Cause I found an inspiration, I have a lot of resources, I have good places where I can promote the concept, so why not make "something" of my own.

With the thought of creating something useful not only for me, I built this very simple tool which can be used by both students and teachers.

This is a random question generator. It contains hundreds of random conversation questions on varieties of subjects. This is excellent for students who are practicing their English speaking skills in classes and for teachers who are teaching English online or in schools.
