この言葉を使うと、上の4つの文章がとても簡単に言えるようになるので、とても気に入っています。
I love this word because it makes it so easy to say the four sentences above.
同じ文章を英語で言うとちょっとややこしいので、英語にもこういう言葉があればいいなと思います。
I wish English had a word like this, because to say the same sentences in English is a little more complicated.
英語で「~ぶりに」は “for the first time in ~ ”となります。
In English, 「~ぶりに」is “for the first time in ~ ”.
以下はその例です。
Here are some examples:
3年ぶりに映画館に行きました。 = I went to the cinema for the first time in 3 years.
2ヶ月ぶりに友達に会いました。 = I met my friend for the first time in 2 months.
ご覧のように、“for the first time in ~ ”の後に期間を表す単語が来ています。
As you can see, the time duration word comes after “for the first time in ~ ”.
「久しぶりに」はどうでしょう？
How about 「久しぶりに」？
久しぶりに買い物に行きました。=
I went shopping for the first time in ages.
OR
I went shopping for the first time in a long time.
「久し」は、ご覧のように"ages" OR "a long time"と訳されています。
As you can see, 「久し」is translated as "ages" or "a long time".
"ages" と "a long time "の間に大きな違いはありません。"ages" は "a long time"よりも少し大げさに聞こえますね。
There's not much difference between "ages" and "a long time”. "ages" sounds a little more exaggerated than "a long time".
