Today: Apa Kabar VS Bagaimana kabar Anda

Natalia P

Hello, how are you?  Today I will discuss the phrase "Apa kabar?"  And "Bagaimana kabar Anda?". The first is "Apa kabar", this expression is commonly said by Indonesians to ask about health conditions which are usually answered with the answer "Baik/ Saya baik". You can say this is a neutral sentence which is actually not too formal and can be  said to anyone. But for the words "Bagaimana kabar Anda?  " This is more polite. This expression can be further clarified, such as "Bagaimana kabar Anda setelah operasi mata? "("How are you doing after eye surgery?"  So it's clear the difference between the two. Don't miss my weekly column, because I will be answering important questions that are often asked by my students.
