Hello everyone! Today, I went to a chiropractor for the first time. I had a lot of neck pain because of my new job. I sit in front of the computer for many hours every day, so naturally, it's not good for my posture. If you have a similar problem, I hope my story helps you!
A few days ago, my neck started hurting a lot. I woke up one morning and a sharp pain jolted through my neck all the way to my head! It took me a good few minutes to be able to get up. I had to turn to my side and use my hand to lift my neck up manually. At first, I didn't think about going to a chiropractor to get it sorted. I thought some heat compress and tiger balm would be enough. Two days went by and the pain was still there. My friend advised me to see a chiropractor, so I decided to take a day off work and do as he suggested.
Luckily, a new chiropractic clinic just opened near my home station (was it fate?). For those of you who are not familiar with chiropractors, a chiropractor is a doctor who helps with pain in the bones and muscles. They are godsend for people who work with computers!
I was a little nervous at first. From the videos I've seen, chiropractors twist your body and crack your bones here and there. I thought it was going to be painful! However, the chiropractor I met was very nice and good at his job. He asked me about my work and how I sit during the day. He wanted to understand my problem completely. He also made sure I didn't feel too much pain.
Then, he checked my neck and back. He found the places where it was hurting. He was very careful and gentle. He made some small moves with his hands on my neck and back. It was a little painful in some areas, but that's to be expected. I hadn't had a massage for over 10 years!
He told me that my hip is also misaligned, which I already knew. My right hip is slightly higher than the left. It makes a lot of sense. I read that misaligned hip could cause lower back pain and sleep disturbance. I have both symptoms, so I didn't have any reason to doubt him.
He told me to lay down on my side and he worked his magic. A few twists and turns, my bones started cracking like popcorn in a microwave.
After just one session, my neck felt so much better! I was surprised and very happy. The chiropractor told me it’s important to take care of my neck and back, especially because of my job. He gave me some advice on how to sit and take breaks to stretch.
Because he helped me so much, I decided to see him more often. I joined a 6-month plan at the clinic. Now, I will go to the chiropractor regularly. It's a good deal as well. For about 80,000 yen, I can come in for a massage any time I want--even if I want to go everyday!
If you also have pain in your neck or back, maybe a chiropractor can help you too. Don’t wait for the pain to get worse. Taking care of your body is very important. I am glad I went to the chiropractor and I feel much better now.
Thank you for reading my story! Take care of yourself and stay healthy.
