Writing techniques for narrative writing

Thirzah

An important Language art to master is the ability to write or tell a story. Narrative writing techniques allow us to tell a story in writing and in conversation. The story might be fiction or non-fiction. Fiction often relates to things that are not real like magical creatures whereas non-fiction is factual and about real events.

Many High School English and language exams will ask you to write a story about something that happened to you or someone you know.

My lesson materials will help you with narrative writing techniques through conversation and reading comprehension. You will learn to understand the purpose and features used as well as how they are different from other writing techniques. For example, do you know why the text below is a narrative text and not a descriptive text?

Hint: narrative writing is based around speech.

There are four types of writing techniques that you can study with me using my language arts lessons. They are narrative, descriptive, persuasive and expository. I look forward to sharing them with you.
