Expressions of love!

Sinead Turnham

Valentine’s Day is celebrated on the 14th of February and is a day to display romantic love and celebrate friendship. The occasion became associated with romantic love when Geoffrey Chaucer based many of his stories in the Canterbury Tales around ‘courtly love’ in the 14th century.

St. Valentine is a saint famously associated with Valentines day, being the day's namesake.  A common legend is that he defied the emperor's orders and secretly married couples to spare the husbands from war. These days lovers will typically show their affection with chocolates, flowers and greeting cards with sweet sentiments.

If you'd like to join me on an exploration of idioms and phrasal verbs about love, then please take advantage of the discount I've placed on my class 'The language of Love'. What better way to put you in the mood for Valentines day than with some expressions all about love?
