Mountains or Sea? Why Not Choose Both?

Charlotte A

I love the sea. When I lived on the south coast of England, I enjoyed swimming in the sea so much that I would swim not only all through summer, but into autumn and even winter (which, even with a wetsuit, is freezing!)

I love the feeling of being carried by the ocean. The feeling that, when you are in one part of the sea, you are connected to every other part all over the planet.

I also enjoy looking under the water at all the fascinating creatures and plants who inhabit the undersea realm. Usually, I do this with goggles or a snorkel mask, but I also have a scuba diving licence, and so when I have the time and money I enjoy diving as well.

Yet while I enjoyed living next to the sea, there always seemed to be something missing, some kind of sense of peace. After 8 years of travelling, I came back to the mountains of southern Spain and re-found that peace. Being so high up, you get a kind of clarity, and it is amazing being so close to the wilderness. Almost every day I see eagles here, and there are also many kinds of wildflowers.

So I definitely prefer living in the mountains. But I am blessed to be also very close to the coast – I can see the sea from my house – so I get plenty of ocean time as well.

Which do you prefer - mountains or sea? Let's chat more about your preferences.
