文法の投稿シリーズ25 - Es versteht sich von selbst, ... / Needless to say / は言うまでもない

Dietz

Sometimes we find ourselves in a situation where we want to express that something is 100% clear. We tend to say:
"It goes without saying, ..." or "Needless to say."
For example: "His success goes without saying."
彼の成功は言うまでもない。

In German, we use constructions like "Es versteht sich von selbst, dass ...". Alternatives include using an adverb like "natürlich" or "selbstverständlich" to state the obvious fact in the rest of the sentence.
For example: "Natürlich wird er gewinnen." (Of course, he will win.)
