Uwajima, Ehime -Tosashimizu and Ochi, Kochi

StephanieRiann

Day 5 (April 6) - started the day by going over to a beautiful observation deck before heading over to Uwajima castle  one of the 12 last original castles in Japan.  My husband is quite the Date family history buff  so we had to go check it out .

Then we headed on a backroad scenic drive towards Tosashimizu for some  Snowpeak Glamping and some well needed rest after sleeping in the car for the last 4 nights . This area is very famous for Katsuo fish — which is fresh and delicious to eat !

In our travels through the town to find food and other amenities we came across a rundown closed/abandoned museum which looked very Ghibli in style but we learned from reading the plaques on the outside that the artwork on the building has to do with the Chinese story The Three Kingdoms .

Karin our dog always needs to know where we are headed even when she’s sleepy as you can see from this photo .

Day 6 (April 7)

We stayed another day at Snowpeak glamping site (enjoying our trailer, washing clothes , enjoying local delicacies) and traveling around locally with regards to the following legend  of Urashima Taro, a Japanese fisherman who visits the underwater Dragon Palace, is said to have originated in the Kochi Prefecture, specifically in the area around Ashizuri Cape.

Day 7 ( April 8)

We left and headed out through the mountain towns and drove over scary bridges as we aimed towards Shikoku Kurst but unable to reach it due to winter road closures so we continued on to Snowpeak Kawano Eki Oshi and a free city campground near by.
