Business English Tips (Part 2): How t sound Polite and Professional

Nanie T

Being polite is important in business, especially when you’re speaking in English. The way you say something can change how people feel about your message.

Here are 3 easy ways to sound polite and professional:

1. Use Could instead of Can.

Instead of: Can you send me the report?

Say: Could you send me the report?

It sounds softer and more polite.

2. Add “please” and “thank you.”

These simple words go a long way in English.

Example: Could you check the document, please? Thank you!

3. Use indirect questions.

Instead of: When will you finish this?

Say: I was wondering when you might be able to finish this.
This sounds more professional and friendly.

Pro Tip: Practice these small changes,

they make a big difference!
