Turn Up The Music; Level Up Your English.

Behind the Scenes: Turning Music into English Lessons

One of my favorite parts of teaching English is blending it with something I love—music. Every song I write has a purpose beyond melody: the lyrics are carefully crafted to highlight commonly used figurative language phrases—such as "Catch a break", a phrase that means to finally get some good luck or a "break" from the difficult things in life. Once I write and record the song, I bring it to life through a music video that doubles as a fun, engaging English lesson.

This way, students aren’t just memorizing vocabulary or grammar rules—they’re experiencing English the way it’s really used, with rhythm, imagery, and emotion. Students can also mimic my pronunciation when they hear my song lyrics, since I am a native English speaker. Learning becomes immersive, creative, and, most importantly, enjoyable.

I’m extra excited to share that my new music video for an original song, "Fresh Air", premieres on September 23rd! Just in time for autumn, it’s packed with figurative language and perfect for students who want to sharpen their English skills in a unique way. You can book my lesson using this music video, or any of the other music videos I have available on my Youtube channel.

To celebrate the season, I’m also offering 15% off all lessons during the fall on Cafetalk. Join in, enjoy the music, and take your English to the next level—one lyric at a time.
