What inspired me to begin teaching

Weekly Topic: What inspired me to begin teaching

Michelle

My inspiration to begin teaching came during my years as a pharmacist. One of my responsibilities was to supervise pharmacy interns, and I quickly discovered how much I enjoyed it. I found myself looking forward to those moments when I could explain something clearly, answer their questions, and see the spark of understanding in their eyes. Watching them grow in both skill and confidence gave me a deep sense of satisfaction. That was the first time I realized how rewarding teaching could be.

Then came the COVID-19 pandemic, which changed life for everyone. In those uncertain times, I began to reflect on what I wanted to do beyond pharmacy. I wanted to continue making an impact, even in a different field. Teaching English became the answer. It was something that allowed me to stay connected, to share knowledge, and to continue helping people grow.

So, my inspiration was two-fold. First, the unexpected joy of mentoring interns, and second, the desire during the pandemic to keep contributing meaningfully to others’ lives. Those experiences combined to spark a new path for me, one that has since become a true passion.

Teaching inspires me because every learner has a unique story. If you’re ready to share yours and grow in confidence, I’d be honored to meet you.
