Things to do in autumn and winter

Weekly Topic: Best 3 indoor hobbies to stay motivated during the cold months

EmilyGL

In Britain, the weather has become cold and autumnal, but you can still enjoy this season!

The oak trees have produced many more acorns than usual like the ones in the picture. They are still falling from the trees and lying on the ground on the grass or by the side of the road. The trees are producing beautiful coloured leaves too - red, russet*, brown and golden yellow. There are also berries in the hedgerows and on bushes.

it is true that you have to gather these outside first, but if we can go into the countryside or a park and find some seasonal things, we can have fun later at home making them into autumn decorations for the house.

Another great activity for this time of year is cooking or baking, or both! It does not have to be very complicated. Good ideas of what to make are soups and stews because they heat you up! Root vegetables and squashes do well. Or maybe biscuits which can be made in an air fryer.

Finally, an excellent pastime for being indoors in the chillier weather is reading! It doesn't matter whether it is a great book that has been read before or a new one. Reading is one of the cheapest and easiest hobbies there is. I enjoy reading history books. If you would like to read an English book along with me, try one of the Penguin graded readers specially adapted for learners of English.

Here's hoping that we can have fun in the autumn and wintry weather.
