How to balance study and free time

1. Plan your time (but keep it flexible)

Create a daily or weekly schedule where you block out study time and free time.

  • Example: Study for 2 hours → take a break → relax later in the day
  • Don’t overfill your schedule—leave space to breathe.

2. Use the 50/10 or 25/5 rule

Study in short, focused sessions:

  • 50 minutes study + 10 minutes break
    or
  • 25 minutes study + 5 minutes break (Pomodoro)

This helps you stay focused without feeling overwhelmed.

3. Set clear goals

Instead of saying “I’ll study today,” say:

  • “I’ll finish Chapter 2”
  • “I’ll practice 10 questions”

Clear goals = faster studying = more free time.

4. Prioritize what matters most

Do the most important or difficult tasks first when your mind is fresh.
This reduces stress and frees up your later time.

5. Make free time guilt-free

When you’ve completed your tasks, enjoy your free time fully.
Watch a show, go out, relax—without thinking about work.

6. Avoid distractions while studying

  • Put your phone on silent
  • Study in a quiet space

Focused study = less time needed overall.

7. Take care of yourself

Sleep, eat well, and exercise.
A tired brain takes longer to study—so balance actually improves productivity.

Simple daily example:

  • Afternoon: 2–3 hours focused study
  • Evening: Relax, hobbies, friends
