Someone Who Has Inspired Me

Miklos

Hello everyone! Today I'd like to share some thoughts about someone who has inspired me.

For me, one of the most important answers is my mother.

Recently, my mom wrote a book about her life and had it published.

Reading it was eye-opening for me. Of course, I have known my mother my whole life. But while I was reading her book, I realized there was so much I did not know about her.

As children, we often see our mothers only as “Mom.” She is the person who takes care of us, helps us, worries about us, teaches us, and loves us. That is the version of her we know first.

But as we get older, we begin to understand something important. Our mothers had whole lives before we were born. They had dreams, adventures, difficult moments, friendships, disappointments, surprises, and stories that we may not know.

Reading my mother’s book helped me see her not only as my mom, but also as a person with her own long and meaningful journey.

A life I did not fully know

I had no idea about many of the things my mother experienced before becoming my mother.

There were adventures.

There were trials and tribulations.

There were ups and downs.

There were struggles.

And there were joys.

Some parts of her story made me smile. Some parts surprised me. Some parts made me think deeply about how much strength people carry quietly through life.

I think many families are like this. We live together. We talk. We share memories.

But there are still many things we do not know about each other.

Sometimes we need to ask.

Sometimes we need to listen.

And sometimes, if we are lucky, someone writes a book.

Why she inspires me

My mother inspires me in many ways.

She inspires me with her kindness. She has always cared about other people and tried to treat them with warmth.

She inspires me with her patience. Life is not always easy, but she has faced many situations with calmness and grace.

She inspires me with her love. As a child, I felt that love every day, even if I did not always understand how much effort and sacrifice were behind it.

And she inspires me with her strength. Not the loud kind of strength.

A quieter kind.

The kind of strength that keeps going, keeps caring, keeps loving, and keeps choosing hope.

What this taught me

Reading my mother’s story reminded me that every person has a history we cannot see.

This is true for our parents. It is true for our teachers. It is true for our students. It is true for the people we meet every day.

Everyone has lived through things we may never know about.

That is why kindness is so important.

We never fully know what someone has experienced, what they are carrying, or what helped them become the person they are today.

A connection to learning

I think this connects to learning English too.

When we study a language, we are not only learning words and grammar. We are learning how to share our stories. We are learning how to ask about other people’s stories.

We are learning how to listen. Even a simple sentence can be meaningful…

“My mother inspired me.”

“I learned something new about my family.”

“I want to understand people better.”

These are not complicated sentences, but they can open the door to a real conversation.

My question for you

Who has inspired you?

Maybe it is your mother, father, grandparent, teacher, friend, coworker, or child.

Maybe it is someone famous.

Maybe it is someone who quietly supported you for many years.

Whoever it is, I hope you have a chance to tell them someday.

For me, my mother has inspired me not only because she is my mom, but because she is a kind, patient, loving, and strong person.

And thanks to her book, I understand that more deeply than before.

Thanks for reading!
