What or who inspires you?

2017년 9월 3일

Yesterday, I attended a local women’s networking group.  The leader of the group asked us to talk about what or who inspired us.  Everybody had a story to share, except me, because I couldn’t think of what to say.  It seems nothing and nobody really inspire me.

But is that really the case?  When I got home, I realized that somebody does inspire me, and that’s my daughter.  She is only 6 years old, but she is really determined in everything, whether it is to finish a 1000 piece puzzle, or make a origami… she just won’t give up.

I am very proud of her, and on the other hand, I felt a bit ashamed of myself, who gives up way too easily.  I told myself that if a 6 year old can be so determined, I should be too.  As an adult and as a mother, I should be strong and determined.

Sometimes, it can be something that somebody says that inspires you.  A lot of TV dramas have inspirational sayings.  I just happened to be watching an older Japanese TV show,天誅 “Tenchu”.  At the end of the last episode, the older lady said, “as long as I am alive, something good will happen”.  It has become my motto.

Yesterday was the first day of September.  It was just an ordinary day.  But to me, it was an important day, because I have decided to be a more positive person, and I won’t give up so easily.   The motto of the old lady became my motto.
