British and American vocabulary - Part 4!

David

Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you are enjoying the series on British and American vocabulary differences.

Here is part 4 :

1. In British English we refer to the underground system above as 'the tube'. In American English this would be referred to as 'the subway'.

 2. This season is called 'autumn' in British English, but it is called 'fall' in American English.

3. We would call the useful device above a 'mobile phone' in British English, whereas in American English it would be called a 'cell phone'.

Thank you again for reading these columns everyone!

I am nervous right now as I am about to teach a yoga class in Japan for the first time! I have taught fitness in the UK for 8 years now but for some reason my nerves have just kicked in. I am concerned about the language barrier and also the ability level of the Japanese students. I will perhaps post a column about my experience tomorrow!

Thank you again and have a lovely day everyone.

ありがとうございます
