Using CNN English Express, we will work on improving your listening and reading comprehension skills.
How this lesson will proceed: Together we will select a news story from the magazine and listen to the audio version of it. We will then listen to the audio again but, in this second listening, we will read along whlie listening. I will ask you several questions to test your comprehension of the material. Then we will discuss the words and expressions in the story that are new to you. Finally, if time allows, we will have a discussion about the story.
As I will share the audio with you via Zoom and share the text by screensharing, there's no need for you to buy the magazine. However, if you find yourself wanting to take this lesson regularly, it is strongly recommended that you buy the magazine since it includes Japanese translations of the articles, the Japanese meaning of keywords, etc. If you buy the magazine, you could also listen to the audio before the lesson and we could use the lesson time to have a discussion about the article instead. In short, we can customize the lesson to suit your needs.
