Let’s Go Shopping! 🛍️
This is a fun and interactive English lesson designed for beginners who want to learn useful vocabulary and expressions for shopping in everyday situations.
Students will learn common shopping vocabulary, including fruits, vegetables, food and everyday grocery items. We will practise useful phrases such as “Can I help you?”, “I’d like some apples, please”, “Anything else?”, “How much is it?”, “Here you are” and “Thank you.”
The lesson focuses especially on speaking and communication. I use colourful pictures, visual prompts, repetition, question-and-answer activities, vocabulary games and simple role-play to help students understand and remember new language.
During the lesson, the student will practise being both the customer and the shopkeeper, giving them the opportunity to use English in a realistic shopping situation.
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
- recognise and name common shopping items
- ask politely for something they want
- ask about prices
- understand common shopkeeper questions
- take part in a simple shopping conversation with confidence
This lesson is particularly suitable for beginners, young learners and teenagers. Japanese support can be provided when necessary for Japanese-speaking beginners.
No previous knowledge is required.
