Let's label on your feelings and moods
Description
This lesson is great for beginners and intermediates students who are interested in knowing how to express feelings and different moods in English. It can be focused and adapted for children or adults depending on the requirements.
Introduction:
I will introduce different questions that have moods/feelings as answers. We will match these questions with the student's home language on a shared google slide. For the purpose of providing an example I will use Spanish:
How are you? ¿Cómo estás?
How do you feel? ¿Cómo te sientes?
Are you ok? ¿Estás bien?
Then, I will introduce four different puppets who represent the basic moods/feelings ( sad, happy, angry, tired, surprised) While I interact with the puppets I will also make facial expressions and tone of voice related to each of the moods to emphasize the emotion related to it. I will ask the student to choose one of the questions above to ask the puppet how it is feeling.
After we repeat this process with each of the puppets, we will sing and dance the song "if you are happy and you know it..." This song will show different characters who feel happy, sad, angry, tired, and surprised.
To finish the class, we will draw and write these five different feelings on independent pieces of paper. We will use the cards to play the game "Say it and show it". Player A will show and read each of the moods on these cards, player B will represent the mood with her/his body. Then, the players will switch tasks.
