This class is for those who wish to improve their understanding of pronunciation and transcription from an academic point of view. You will learn the IPA alphabet and the science of pronunciation of letters and syllables.

General structure of each class:
1). Reviewing homework from previous class.
2). Pronouncing new phonemes using examples of minimal pairs.
3). Looking at the pronunciation of short sentences.
4). Pronouncing long sentences in British and American English; going over the transcription of selected words.
5). In class exercises: dictation and recognition of words based on their transcription.

This class is for you if: you have an intermediate level of English (B1 or higher), you are a university student specializing in English Linguistics or English Studies or you are simply looking to delve into phonetics from a scholarly point of view!
