      1. TALK to someone about the most meaningful day of your life.
        1. What did you do?
        2. What was it like?
        3. What did you get out of it?
      2. You just did your first draft!
    2. In your essay SHOW them who you are. Do not just TELL them.
    3. This is not a speech. It is a conversation.
    4. If they ask, “Why us?” 
      1. This is a different essay for each school!
      2. Do your research!
      3. What skills and attributes will you bring to them?
      4. Where in the school specifically will you bring them?
    5. Be careful about the 4 “D”s
      1. Death
      2. Drugs
      3. Divorce
      4. Debating
      5. You can write about these. It’s just difficult to do it really well while letting them get to know YOU.
    6. Use the 4 “C”s
      1. Content
      2. Creativity
      3. Clarity
      4. Correctness 
    7. Don’t just have any English teacher proofread. Get one who knows you well.
    8. When the reader looks up, she should be surprised you are not in the room.
      1. Write how you speak. Your voice is the most important thing.
      2. If you don’t care about your topic why would they?
