Grow Your Math Vocabulary With Me!

Grow your math vocabulary with me! The focus of this lesson is centered around the language of math. This fun and engaging lesson is great for primary-aged children or for anyone who would like to improve their english vocabulary in this area.
First, students will be presented with four different headings, titled 'Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide'. The tutor will ask students to catagorise different maths terms under these headings.
E.g. Subtract → Decrease
Next, students must identify the synonym or closet meaning to specific maths terms.
E.g. Divide → Share, half, cut up
Students will then be presented with a variety of math word problems. Students will be asked to read the word problems, selecting the correct mathematic sysmbol, '+, -, ×, ÷' , and work out the sums.
E.g. There used to be sixteen trees in the forest, that number has been halved. How many trees are there in the forest now? → Symbol = ÷, Answer = 8
The lesson can be adjusted to suit the students specific academic needs and interests.
