Read Along Daily News Article:
Student chooses an article from any free ESL website which includes vocabulary and questions built into the daily news article. If the student does not know where to get such an article. The instructor can provide an article. It is preferable that the student choose an article from the internet and share a link with the instructor when booking the class.
As the student reads aloud, the instructor will only interrupt if there are serious pronunciation mistakes. Just before the student begins reading, the instructor will read aloud the vocabulary words which the student will repeat twice.
During the discussion, it is best if the students takes on all the questions first and the instructor gives feedback on grammar and pronunciation, however if the student wishes, the student can assign a discussion question to the instructor and ask the instructor to answer it, thereby modeling a verbal statement the way native English speak might make it. The instructor is flexible, but research shows even if it is difficult, it is best for the student to engage in a higher ratio of talk time. If the student suggests a normal article, for example one that does not include ESL, EFL vocabulary and questions, the instructor can create questions on the fly.
This can be a one time class or ongoing.
