The Eiken test is one of the most widely used tests in Japan for determining English levels for practical use. It ranges from grade 5 (easiest) to grade 1 (hardest). Anyone can take the test, and apply to take any grade. It is a good idea to prepare for the tests, and this can mean trying out many of the previous exam questions.

I have created several lessons to help prepare students for passing the Eiken tests, and I think that getting the help of a teacher is a good idea if you are attempting a harder level to challenge yourself. The more prepared you are for your exam, the more relaxed you will probably feel, and my aim is to help you feel as relaxed as possible for your test day!

  • We can look at examples of topic cards (with the pictures up to pre-grade 1) and practice answering these together

  • We can look at example tests, I will ask you to read a part of the passage and help you answer the questions based on the passage

  • We can look at the listening part of the exam, and listen to example audio files and answer the questions together

For any of the exam practice lessons, I will take notes and send these to my students so that they can review any areas that they might want to practice for homework. We can also look at specific areas you know you need to practice, and I can help with deadlines that are very close to help you prepare as quickly as possible.
