America is a vast country with very many dialects. Not all Americans speak Standard American English, so brushing up on Southern dialects will be very useful if you're planning to visit the South. African-American Vernacular English, thought originally a Southern dialect, is now spoken all over the country. Some people going to America for the first time find a little confusing, but you can skip that confusion with the basics you will learn in this lesson. This will also be very helpful in understanding the English you hear in movies and music, as well as some of the English you'll find on the Internet.
