Virtual Assistance

Virtual assistance came about as a result of secretaries wishing to take their expertise to a home office. Whether because of children at home, travel time, or simply the joy of being their own bosses, pioneering virtual assistants loved this, and the industry took hold. A virtual assistant (VA) helps her or his small business clients with an assortment of challenging tasks, no matter where s/he or the client is located in the world.

Trial or First Lesson

After mutual introductions, I will start by chatting about the industry in a top level kind of way. We'll then need to focus on your needs. We need to determine if this field is what you thought it was, or can be. If this sounds like a possible career move for you, and you would like to take lessons with me, you'll have two choices on how to proceed:

  1. The first will be single lessons, moving through material you and I agree upon, completing as many lessons as you feel you need.
  2. The second is a Lesson Pack I'm developing, which will have six or eight lessons, and will provide a more thorough learning experience, along with a larger collection of practical tips and resources. Of course, a Lesson Pack will save you money.

Material Covered - In Brief

The material/content I cover will include everything from the basic requirements and skills you'll need, to how to begin to attract clients. Some of the more important things you'll need to know will be: technical requirements and skills, communication skills and how to establish/maintain a positive business relationship with your clients, the question of being a 'generalist' versus having a niché practice, associations and resources, and ways to attract or get clients.

Note: I won't kid you. Attracting clients isn't magic and will take some self-promoting on your part. The good news is that there are active virtual assistant organizations and communities worldwide.

Whatever choice you make, if you take at least one paid class with me, even if you decide to pursue this career on your own, you will have your first VA contact; me!

My Qualifications

I trained at the preeminent virtual assistant organization. And perhaps no surprise here, I trained ... virtually. I set up my own VA practice upon graduation, and was able to get my first client (she was from the Netherlands) within a short time.
