Let's Speak English! Nurse & Patient Roleplay [with Japanese translation]
Through nurse and patient role-playing, we'll practice English for real medical settings. You'll learn common phrases and communication skills used in hospitals, enabling smooth conversations with patients.

This lesson focuses on role-playing to improve your communication skills in medical English. Using prepared scripts, we will practice taking on the roles of nurse and patient. Together, we will work through commonly asked questions and responses in realistic medical scenarios.

Goal
The goal of each lesson is to help you confidently use English in a medical context. Special focus is placed on improving listening and speaking skills through role-playing and medical terminology, enabling you to explain symptoms and interact effectively with patients. The lesson aims to improve fluency, accuracy, and overall communication ability. Additionally, you will learn appropriate intonation, tone, and rhythm to conduct natural and effective conversations.

・I will provide a PDF of the lesson material.
➂ Vocabulary and Medical Terms
・We will focus on new vocabulary and medical terms, emphasizing their meanings and pronunciation.
➂ Reading Aloud, Repetition, Intonation
・I will read part of the script, paying attention to appropriate intonation, rhythm, and accent. Then, you will follow along.
➃ Roleplay (Patient - Nurse)
・You will take on the role of the patient and I will be the nurse, refining your pronunciation and sentence structure.
➄ Roleplay (Nurse - Patient)
・You will take on the role of the nurse and I will be the patient.
➅ Questions and Feedback
・I will answer any questions you may have about the material or terminology.
・You will receive immediate feedback on your pronunciation, intonation, and overall communication.
➆ Assignments (If necessary)
・I may assign tasks and confirm the next steps for the upcoming lesson.
Conclusion and Review
We will summarize the lesson and provide constructive feedback.
We will discuss the next steps and areas for improvement.
Lesson Plan
After the trial lesson, I will create a personalized plan tailored to the specific area of your hospital specialty. Initially, I will prepare three scripts. Depending on your English level, we may complete one script per lesson, or it may take more time. Each lesson will last 25 minutes. After completing the first three scripts, we will decide whether to proceed with additional scripts.
Language for the Lesson
Before starting, I will ask if you prefer to use English or Japanese. Either is fine. The script will be in English, but l want us to try to use as much English as possible during the conversation. Let’s work together!
Please note that I’m not very skilled in formal language, so sometimes I may speak casually. I hope you understand.
