Overview of Network Speed
Network speed is the rate that data moves from the Internet to your computer or device, and it’s measured in megabits per second (Mbps). If you have a broadband Internet connection, you will have at least 768 kilobits per second for downloads and at least 200 kilobits per second for uploads, according to Xfinity. Broadband speed is a type of high-speed Internet connection that utilizes data channels to transfer information.
What Is My Network Speed?Your network speed will be impacted by the way you connect to the Internet. Options for connection include 3G or 4G wireless, mobile, broadband, DSL, cable, satellite, hotspots, modem and more.
High-traffic websites may not allow full-speed connection due to high numbers of users visiting the website.
Your computer or device will also need to have system configurations and equipment in place that enable high-speed Internet connectivity. Your home network also has to be able to manage the demand of multiple devices to maintain high network speeds.
