Description

The teacher will either a news or historical article for this lesson, based on the student's interests or needs.

- The lesson will being with a brief warm-up conversation related to the day's topic. 

- The student will be shown a list of vocabulary useful for understanding the article. The student will rate their understanding of each word from "I have never seen this word" to "I use this word". Only the words that the student has indicated that they do not know will be covered. This will allow us to make the best use of the lesson time. 

- Next, the student and the teacher will read through the article together. The teacher will provide support when neccessary. 

- The article will be followed by some general comphrension questions to check the student's understanding.  When needed, the teacher will help guide the student to discover the answers. For example, the teacher might highlight certain parts of the text or ask the student to re-read section. 

- The lesson will then end with a discussion of the article and the student's impression of it. What did they find interesting? Do they have a relatable experience? Additionaly, the student may be asked to write a short summary of the article or a written response to it.
