EAL Lesson Plan: Introducing Yourself
Objective:
Students will practice introducing themselves by answering and asking common questions about personal interests, such as favourite food, favourite subject, languages spoken, and birthdays.
Lesson Outline:

Warm-Up (2 minutes):
- Begin with a short discussion about why introductions are important in making new friends and feeling confident in new settings.

Key Vocabulary & Phrases (8 minutes):
- Introduce key vocabulary (e.g., "favourite," "birthday," "language") and model common question-answer structures:
- "What’s your favourite food?" – "My favourite food is __."
- "What’s your favourite subject?" – "My favourite subject is __."
- "What languages do you speak?" – "I speak __."
- "When is your birthday?" – "My birthday is on __."
- Introduce key vocabulary (e.g., "favourite," "birthday," "language") and model common question-answer structures:

Listening Activity (5 minutes):
- Play a recording or read aloud a short conversation between two students introducing themselves. Discuss the dialogue.

Speaking Practice (15 minutes):
- Pair students to practice asking and answering the questions with a partner. Switch partners to ensure varied interactions.

- Review key phrases and ask a few volunteers to introduce themselves to a partner/group/tutor.
