Description

Description:
This lesson is designed to help children aged 5–10 improve their speaking skills in English through fun, interactive activities. Students will practice expressing ideas, asking and answering questions, and sharing personal experiences in a supportive environment. The lesson emphasizes confidence, vocabulary expansion, and clarity of speech.

Themes:

  1. Greetings & Introductions

  2. Favorite Things (Food, Animals, Hobbies)

  3. Daily Routines

  4. Storytelling & Imagination

  5. Asking & Answering Questions

Learning Activities with Challenges & Solutions

  1. Warm-Up – “Hello, Friend!”

    • Activity: Students pair up and introduce themselves (name, age, favorite color/animal).

    • Challenge: Some children may feel shy or hesitant to speak.

    • Solution: Model the introductions first, use smiling and gestures, and start with small groups or one-on-one with the teacher before full-class sharing.

  2. Show & Tell – “My Favorite Thing”

    • Activity: Each child talks about a favorite toy, book, or hobby.

    • Challenge: Limited vocabulary or difficulty describing objects.

    • Solution: Provide sentence starters like “My favorite toy is…”, “It is…”, “I like it because…”. Use visual aids or pictures for support.

  3. Role Play – “At the Market”

    • Activity: Pretend shop where students ask for items and give responses.

    • Challenge: Students may forget phrases or feel embarrassed speaking in a role.

    • Solution: Give a mini-dialogue example, allow students to practice in pairs first, and encourage laughter to make mistakes okay.

  4. Story Circle – “One Sentence Story”

    • Activity: Teacher starts a story, each student adds one sentence.

    • Challenge: Some students may struggle to come up with ideas quickly.

    • Solution: Provide prompts or key words, allow brainstorming before speaking, and celebrate all contributions.

  5. Question Game – “Guess Who/What”

    • Activity: Students describe a character or object without saying its name; others guess.

    • Challenge: Difficulty in describing clearly or forming correct questions.

    • Solution: Give examples of adjectives or questions, practice a few rounds with teacher guidance before letting students play independently.

  6. Closing Activity – “Compliment Chain”

    • Activity: Each student gives a compliment or positive comment to a classmate.

    • Challenge: Students may be shy or unsure what to say.

    • Solution: Provide example compliments and model the activity first. Encourage simple sentences like “I like your drawing” or “You speak very clearly.”
