Going on a trip soon? This lesson gives you the practical English you actually need when travelling: checking in at airports, navigating hotels, asking for directions, ordering food, and handling unexpected situations with confidence.
We will practice real conversations you will use at immigration, on public transport, in restaurants, and during emergencies. You will leave each session with phrases you can use immediately on your next trip.
Perfect for travelers, expats, and anyone who wants to speak naturally in everyday travel situations rather than textbook English.
Target student:
Intermediate and above. Anyone preparing for travel, living abroad, or wanting conversational fluency in real-world settings.
Lesson flow (your teaching notes):
Warm up (5 min) – Ask about their travel plans or past trips to set context.
Key phrases (15 min) – Introduce vocabulary and expressions for the day's theme (pick one per session: airport, hotel, transport, dining, emergencies).
Role play (15 min) – Simulate the real situation. You play the airline staff, hotel receptionist, or waiter; student responds.
Common mistakes (5 min) – Correct typical errors travelers make (false friends, overly formal phrases, wrong prepositions).
Wrap up (5 min) – Quick review and a "survival phrase" of the day to remember.
Sample topics to rotate across multiple bookings:
At the airport (check-in, security, immigration)
Hotel check-in and requests
Asking for directions and using maps
Ordering food and handling dietary needs
Public transport and taxis
Emergencies (lost luggage, missed flights, medical help)
Small talk with locals
