Lesson Description:

This fun and interactive Café Talk lesson helps young learners build confidence in speaking English by talking about themselves, their family, hobbies, and favorite things. Students will practice using simple sentences, expressing likes and dislikes, and asking and answering basic questions. The lesson encourages natural conversation through games, pictures, and storytelling — making learning English enjoyable and engaging!

Lesson Objectives:

By the end of this 25-minute session, students will be able to:

  • Introduce themselves confidently in English

  • Talk about their family, hobbies, and favorites

  • Ask and answer simple questions using correct grammar and pronunciation

  • Build speaking confidence in a relaxed, fun environment

Lesson Duration: 25 minutes

Lesson Flow:

1. Warm-Up & Greetings (3 minutes)

  • Greet the student with energy and a smile.

  • Quick chat: “How are you today?” “What did you do this morning?”

  • Play a short “Name & Action” game (e.g., “My name is Mary, and I like to dance!”)

2. Topic Introduction – “All About Me!” (5 minutes)

  • Show a colorful slide or picture of kids introducing themselves.

  • Ask guiding questions:

    • “Who is this?”

    • “What do you think he likes?”

  • Introduce key vocabulary: name, age, family, like, favorite, hobby, pet

3. Guided Conversation (5 minutes)

  • Use prompts to help students speak in full sentences:

    • “My name is…”

    • “I am ___ years old.”

    • “I live in…”

    • “I like to…”

    • “My favorite color/food/toy is…”

  • Teacher models pronunciation and sentence rhythm.

4. Fun Activity – “Show and Tell” (5 minutes)

  • Ask the student to show something they love (toy, drawing, or photo).

  • Student describes it using English: “This is my toy car. I like it because it’s red!”

  • Encourage follow-up questions like “What color is it?” or “Who gave it to you?”

5. Speaking Game – “Would You Rather?” or “Favorite Things” (4 minutes)

  • Ask fun, simple questions to encourage spontaneous speaking:

    • “Would you rather eat ice cream or cake?”

    • “What’s your favorite animal?”

    • “Do you like cats or dogs?”

  • Use pictures or emojis to keep the student engaged.

6. Wrap-Up & Review (3 minutes)

  • Review key words and sentences learned.

  • Praise the student’s effort and progress (“You spoke very well today!”).

  • Give a simple homework or follow-up task (e.g., “Draw your family and write three sentences about them.”).

Teaching Materials (optional):

  • Flashcards or digital slides (for vocabulary and prompts)

  • Pictures of hobbies, foods, and animals

  • Short background music for energy transitions

  • Rewards/stickers (virtual stars or points for motivation)
