TOPIC: Bulletproof Backpack

Shootings happen. They happen at schools. In the USA, there are many of them. An Israeli company sees this. The company thinks it can help.

It designs a special backpack. It looks like a normal backpack. It has a bulletproof vest inside. You pull two straps, and you are wearing the vest. It takes only one or two seconds.

 

The company’s name is Masada-Armour. The vest costs 500 US dollars

PART 1. Warm up questions (2 mins)

  1. Are you familiar with bulletproof backpacks?
  2. Who is using it?

 PART 2. READING Article (5 mins)

PART 3. Unlocking Unfamiliar Words (2-3 mins)

Instruction: Explain only when the student doesn’t understand the meaning clearly or if s/he doesn’t know how to use the word in the sentence.

a.            shooting (when somebody shoots a lot of people)

c.            strap (a belt, a line)

Directions: Ask the following questions to the student to check if they understand the article.

  3. If you are one of the parents, are you going to purchase this backpack for your child’s safety?
