Are you looking to use more fluid English in a work situation? This is the place to start.
Description
Business Like a Boss!
- Are you looking to improve your English because you would like to advance your career prospects? During these lessons, we will focus on a specific part of the work environment: meetings, contacting and maintaining client relationships, presentations, interviewing for a new job, making orders or receiving orders and talking with your colleagues.
- During each lesson we will pick a topic from above and follow a specific program incoporating writing, listening and conversational exercises. A typical lesson would incorporate the following.
Introduction: We will spend 5 minutes speaking about what you are currently working on within your job and if there are any situations where you have been using your English. We will review any particular conversation or task you found difficult, when working in English, and look at some quick phrases or written sentences that could help you to understand better.
Main Lesson
The next part of the lesson will focus on dialogue, putting you, the student, in a work related situation whereby we roleplay a conversation. The important part of this class, will be to keep the conversation as fluid as possible. After we have completed the dialogue, we will assess what you have said and where you can make improvements. Most importantly, we will look at idioms and phrases that you can add to a vocabulary list, to practice in your spare time and use at work. This will take between 10-15 minutes.
We will conclude our lesson by looking at a written or listening exercise. The written exercise will involve improving your written vocabulary when writing emails, memos, preparing presentations, or liaising with clients and coworkers. The listening part of this class, will focus on completing an online exercise whereby you are put into a work situation and will have to understand as much as you possibly can from a dialogue created by me, or using onine material. At the end of the exercise, I will ask a series of questions, aimed at seeing how much you have understood. This part of the lesson will also last between 10-15 minutes.
